Water collection by bumble bees

Claire Ferry; Sarah A Corbet

We observed workers of Bombus terrestris drinking regularly and often over a four-day period from a waterfilled concrete tank containing aquatic vegetation at Juniper Hall Field Centre, Dorking, Surrey, UK, but we have found only one other report of bumble bees drinking water (Fantham & Porter, 1914).
