Abstract
This research has been carried out by a team of 35 scientists forming part of the international COLOSS (prevention of honey bee COlony LOSSes) network (van der Zee et al., 2012), and 15 US scientists forming the Bee Informed Partnership (BIP) (vanEnglesdorp et al., 2012). The survey data presented in the COLOSS study were collected for the 2008‐9 winter from 12 countries and from the 2009‐10 winter from 24 countries. Data were collected for the winter of 2010‐11 for the BIP study, following on from earlier published US studies for 2006‐10 (vanEnglesdorp et al., 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011).
