This the first of a series of articles taking a look at centres of bee excellence around the world. Dr Pohorecka is Director of the Apiculture Division at the Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture, Puławy, just over 100 kms south west of Warsaw, in Poland. There is a long tradition of beekeeping in Poland covering many centuries. The institute is well known internationally.
