Gordon Townsend - An appreciation on behalf of IBRA

Abstract
Professor Gordon F Townsend died suddenly on 14 December 1988 at the age of73, and all who knew him are saddened by the loss of such a friendly, imaginative and ebullient personality. Those of us who have been responsible for the development of the International Bee Research Association remember him especially as one of the Association's chief architects.
