Abstract
The white sandalwood tree (Santalum album L; Fam. Santalaceae) is a small evergreen tree, commonly found in the dry regions of peninsular India. It thrives at altitudes between 600 m and 1050 m, growing equally well in open scrub forests, on hillsides, in hedgerows, around the edges of cultivated fields, or along the banks of rivers and in ravines.
