Abstract
The introduction of Melittiphis alvearius (Acari: Laelapidae) into Nova Scotia, Canada, is discussed. A list of 19 species of mites recorded in the resulting survey is presented. In addition to the first record of M. alvearius in North America, 4 species of Hypoaspis (Pneumolaelaps) are listed in association with honeybee colonies.
