Abstract

Currently, there is much interest in understanding the biology of Varroa destructor and its interaction with host honey bees. Few haemolymph protein analyses have been conducted on this mite. In the case of bees, there are several dissimilar methodologies to extract and store haemolymph. The aim of this study is therefore to propose a standard procedure for haemolymph collection and storage, extending previous studies and sharing our working experience. This protocol ensures practicality, higher performance, clear samples, and long term sample storage for protein analysis.
