The Editorial in No. 3 Bee World for 1983, headed Supersedure, carried the announcement that Dr Eva Crane was retiring from the Directorship of !BRA at the end of December, after 35 years in the post. At the time the Editorial was written we had no idea who. would succeed her; there was no obvious candidate either among the !BRA staff or elsewhere.
