Abstract
As beekeepers know, one of the best ways to get to know a bee is to offer it hospitality. Honey bees have long benefited from this hospitality, but bees of other kinds have attracted less attention, and their management still offers substantial challenges. Beekeepers, who are already familiar with the needs of their own bees, are well placed to help to build up the corpus of knowledge and experience that is needed to allow the rearing of other types of bee for pleasure or, as pollinators, for profit.
