The author is one of the swarm coordinators for Huntingdon BKA, while his wife is the secretary of Cambridge BKA. Therefore, bee related phone calls are very normal in the household. A rather different call in May 2009 led to this interesting experiment with a hive, purpose built to help develop the Turkish honey industry, finding a place in an English apiary.
