There is a big difference between the opportunistic hunting of bees for their honey and the keeping and managing of bees in order to fully exploit the products of the bees' nest. Bee hunting, as illustrated in various rock art works, goes back to the earliest days of man as a hunter gatherer. The beginnings of beekeeping are harder to date but probably coincide with the changes from nomadic to a more agrarian lifestyle. New discoveries in Israel may shed light on Apiary Beekeeping.
