Abstract
A practical and effective mixture for attracting honeybees to cluster on a lure has been developed, based on a mixture of (E)-9-oxo-2-decenoic acid with some of the components of the Nasonov gland pheromone. The mixture contains no famesol or nerol, and unpurified preparations are suitable. It is more effective than the mixture of the acid with all 7 components in equal proportions; this is in turn superior to a mixture of all components present in natural proportions.
