Abstract

Morphometric studies on the hind legs, tergites and sternites of the Indian honeybee (Apis ceralla illdica) showed significant variation with geographical locality in 12 characters in the Himachal region and in 8 characters in the Kashmir region. Most of the characters measured were positively correlated with altitude in the Himachali bees, and a smaller number in the Kashmiri bees. Hind legs, tergites and sternites tended to be larger among Kashmiri bees.
