In the early days of Bee World, editorials were not ‘considered necessary, or even desirable' and were reserved for explaining general policy and for announcing new developments. Editorials, particularly by guest writers well respected in beekeeping circles, are now a regular feature of the journal. However, for this issue I am returning more to the original concept for an editorial.
