Abstract

More than one million kg of royal jelly are produced in China every year. A system has been developed at Zhejiang University to produce high yields of royal jelly from a new strain of honey bees. Their method involves eight steps: maintaining a high-yielding strain of honey bee, using specially developed equipment, prolonging the royal jelly production period, mastering skills of manipulation, supplementary feeding, adjusting the structure of the combs, using the appropriate number of queen cups per colony, and rearing larvae.
