Abstract

The authors describe many traditional hives they have found in use in Aegean islands. These are of special interest, because one type used on Paros (fig. 6) is very similar to hives excavated in Attica on the nearby Greek mainland, dated to 400 BC and later20. It would be interesting to know if vessels have also been excavated that are shaped like any of the other hives described here, and of a suitable size for a hive.
