Abstract

A clear European legislative basis enabling the integrated control of varroosis is still missing, but despite this organic acids and essential oils have been developed to the point of full usefulness. The regulatory limitations impeding the development of effective treatments against varroosis and possible solutions are explored, according to the current situation in the pharmaceutical marketplace, after implementation of EU pharmaceutical legislation on veterinary drugs.
