Abstract Observations on A. florea drone flight were conducted on the campus of Chiang Mai University. Flight records for individual drones were made in February 2004; this is the dry ‘winter’ period. A free-flying observation colony was maintained outdoors in shaded conditions. February is a major period of colony reproduction (swarming) and the observation colony underwent two swarming events during the period of drone flight observations.
